Von Krogh: Norwegian Alternative Rock Band Taking the Music Scene by Storm
NMR – A really well performed ballad here from these guys, I sense many influences in the styles, all working really well, the melodies and instrumentation is good, the mix is great, the vocal delivery sounds great, all in all ….a very nice track .
Formed in 2019 by vocalist and songwriter Elias von Krogh and guitarist Adrian Michelsen, von Krogh has swiftly emerged as a powerful presence in the alternative rock scene. Their distinctive sound, which is modern yet nostalgic, draws inspiration from iconic artists like Jeff Buckley, Pink Floyd, and Queen, blended with contemporary influences from Thomas Dybdahl, Sondre Lerche, and Benjamin Clementine. This fusion has carved a unique space for von Krogh within the competitive music industry.
The band’s lineup is rounded out by the delicate keys of Adage Salen Sandvik, the technical energy of drummer Filip Blindheim, and the sensitive bass lines of Philip Mjaatvedt. Together, they craft a soundscape that is both rich and emotionally charged, resonating deeply with their growing fanbase.
In October 2023, they released their critically acclaimed debut album, WAVES. Recorded at Greenroom Studios in Fredrikstad and mixed by Bjarne Stensli, WAVES explores life’s turbulent ups and downs through a compelling mix of orchestral folk and anthemic rock. With standout tracks like “Birds,” “Costs,” “Scales,” and “When it Rains,” the album showcases the band’s dynamic range and emotional depth.
The lyrics, penned by Elias von Krogh, are deeply personal, reflecting his experiences with bipolar disorder. His raw honesty and vulnerability have struck a chord with listeners, making the music deeply relatable. As Elias himself puts it, “Each one of us must pass through these waves.”
Von Krogh is not only making waves in the studio but also on stage. Their electrifying live performances earned them the top spot in the Norwegian finals of the Emergenza band competition, securing a place in the international finals at the Taubertal Festival in Germany this August.
With a sound that combines alternative rock and pop, infused with orchestral and folk elements, von Krogh has managed to stand out in a crowded musical landscape. Their ability to evoke a wide range of emotions ensures that every von Krogh performance is a memorable and moving experience.
