“ A warm and stylish vocal delivery take centre stage in this new track “

NMR – With e Lennon-esque vibe for me, this new release sounds really nice, the arrangement and instrumentation is brave but it works very well, nice production style , well worth checking out.
The Unexpected Journey of VAEV’s Debut Album
In October 2017, what started as a straightforward plan for an EP quickly expanded into something much bigger. First, it turned into two EPs, and eventually, a full-length album. While 80% of the music was recorded within the first year, it took six more years to finally reach completion.
Why did it take so long? Life has a way of complicating even the best-laid plans.
A Musical Journey Across Continents
VAEV, the brainchild of Berlin-based French-Algerian musician Mehdi Messouci, went through multiple studio relocations, each with its own strange and memorable backstory. From a basement beneath a junkie-infested U-Bahn station to another below an Austrian restaurant run by a melancholic Bangladeshi, then a Bulgarian brothel, and finally, a Ukrainian cat café—each location added to the album’s unique history.
Alongside these unpredictable moves, Mehdi collaborated with a dozen talented musicians, including Cedric Laban (Isaac Delusion, Forever Pavot), Albertine Sarges, and Marc Zory-Cazali (Hushpuppies, Sheraff). Balancing these collaborations with major life events—marriage, relocating, and becoming a father—made the creative process even more challenging.
A Musical Experience
Now, after years of persistence, experimentation, and unexpected detours, VAEV is thrilled to present お前はもう死んでいる, a 12-track album that defies genre boundaries. The record blends pop melodies, vintage and modern synths, folk, hip-hop, ambient textures, string quartets, guitar solos, Gregorian chant, early 2000s Finnish gothic metal, Michael Jackson influences, and more.
Lyrically, the album explores deep themes such as mortality, the passage of time, and the weight of existence, while also touching on lighter, everyday musings.
Now Available
お前はもう死んでいる is now available on all major streaming platforms. For those who appreciate physical releases, the album is also free to download on Bandcamp, with CDs available for purchase.
We hope listeners will immerse themselves in the album’s 55-minute journey.
