“Jarinoe Unveils Debut Album ‘The Wanderer’ with Melancholic Yet Uplifting Track ‘Long Time Coming’”
Bristol-based singer, songwriter, and musician Paul Ayers, under the moniker Jarinoe, has recently released his debut album, ‘The Wanderer,’ in late 2023. This compelling musical journey was brought to life at Ty Drwg studio in Cardiff, where Ayers collaborated with the talented engineer and co-producer Frank Naughton, who also contributed bass lines to the project. Additional musical layers, including drums and vocals, were skillfully provided by Cardiff-based multi-instrumentalist Andy Fung.
The roots of Jarinoe trace back to the early 90s when Ayers and Fung first connected at an Art college in Falmouth, Cornwall. While pursuing Fine Art studies, the duo formed an Indie band, setting the stage for their musical collaboration years later on ‘The Wanderer.’ Ayers, true to his artistic roots, not only crafted the soulful melodies but also lent his visual artistry to the album’s design, with all streaming platforms featuring bespoke artwork, and a limited edition CD offering a tangible collectible.

‘The Wanderer’ weaves a sonic tapestry of indie folk and alternative rock, blending tremolo-reverbed guitars with acoustic rhythms. Ethereal keys, courtesy of Naughton’s Rhodes Piano through the ‘Teaching Machines’ ‘Wellspring’ analogue spring reverb system, add an enchanting layer to the musical landscape.
The standout track, ‘Long Time Coming,’ captures the essence of the album. Acoustic guitars set the stage, accompanied by evocative synth arpeggios, tremolo guitar, and layered vocals. The result is a wistful yet slightly melancholic atmosphere, imbued with an underlying sense of upliftment.
Ayers describes ‘The Wanderer’ as a sonic journey reminiscent of late 1968, where summer fades into autumn, evoking a bittersweet sentiment. Drawing inspiration from the endearing words of Chris Hope from Lost Sound Club, Ayers envisions a scene where the wine will pour again, the haze will grace the branches, and high windows will glint with evening promise.
Embark on this musical odyssey with Jarinoe’s ‘The Wanderer,’ where each track unfolds a unique emotion, and ‘Long Time Coming’ stands as a poignant testament to Ayers’ ability to create a harmonious blend of wistfulness and hope.
