From Farmville to Austin: The Return of a Self-Taught Musician
Jay Sprouse Releases Long-Awaited EP Featuring “Innocent Harmony” After 15 Years
In a remarkable tale of passion and perseverance, Jay Sprouse is excited to announce the release of a long-awaited EP featuring the standout track “Innocent Harmony.” This collection of songs, recorded 15 years ago, is set to captivate listeners with its raw emotion and heartfelt storytelling.
In May 2008, amid joblessness and the housing crash, Jay found inspiration in a Tom Petty film, “Running Down a Dream.” With no prior musical training, this spark led to the purchase of a guitar and harmonica. Relocating to a tiny apartment in Farmville, VA, Jay dedicated 14-16 hours daily to mastering these instruments, focusing on creating original melodies.
Despite limited recording resources, Jay always imagined a full band sound. This vision came to life in the fall of 2009 when two talented musicians joined in Austin, TX. Over three days at The Bubble Recording Studio, they captured the essence of Jay’s music, creating a truly magical experience. The silent hero of the entire EP was Jay’s longtime good friend, Whitaker Elledge, who did everything from producing to singing backup and assisting with song arrangement.
Now, 15 years later, Jay believes these songs are too good to remain unheard. The EP is now available across all major streaming platforms, with “Innocent Harmony” poised to resonate deeply with listeners.
