1. Tell us about your band, what genre do you consider yourself and how long have you been writing and recording original music.
Our project Inner Code was born in 2019 as an instrumental drum and bass band. The wind changes quickly and the desire to contaminate electronic music (which remains essential in our productions), with metal sounds becomes increasingly disruptive. Everyone brings into the band his own background of experiences and styles: from metalcore to death, industrial, and nu metal, but also musical genres that came from the electronic scene such as drum ‘n bass, hardstyle and trance. Our lyrics are predominantly in Italian language, with some English inserts, so we can express what we have inside the code 100%. The stylistic blend brings blood taste and electricity, with killer riffs that alternate with dystopian FX, and rhythmic war feelings which screen us to the shadows of a gloomy past, and to the lights of a terrible, as fatally, near future. We have released an album in 2021 named “Nuovi Incubi” and an EP called “Desidera Distruggi Dimentica” in November 2023.
2. What or who inspired you to be a music artist.
First of all it’s a challenge with ourselves, to reach as many people as possible with our music but above all to let out from our inner code all the creativity and our unexpressed potentials. Making music and playing gig is for us the first reason to live a meaning life, and we also hope to give good feelings to our fans.
We take inspirations from ourselves, from our fears, from our strengths, and from our will to impose.
3. Do you record at home or in a studio, where do find the most inspiration for writing new lyrics and material.
It often begins with everything from home, first drafts of new songs and lyrics start from an accurate input of someone of us, then the rest is refined in the rehearsal room where we try to reach the best possible result. After these steps we always move to professional recording studios, that can permit us to let out from our songs all of their potentials.
4. What’s your go to instrument for a new song, maybe guitar / keys / loops?
Inner Code don’t always start from the same instrument to create a new track. It can start from a guitar or bass riff, drum groove, or synth melody. Anything that pushes us to be creative.

5. As an indie artist, how do you navigate the challenges of promoting your music and building a fanbase in a highly competitive industry?
Self-promotion it’s certainly not a simple challenge. We try to be as active as possible in the underground scene of our city and in Italy, participating and even organizing many live shows. We believe that it is very useful to create a real fanbase, that supports the band also and above all in front of the stage. A “plastic” fan base generated only through social advertising can of course be useful too to give a boost to the product and numbers in general, but in our opinion it must always have concrete feedback.
6. Where do you find the most success in sharing your material and getting recognition.
For us it’s important the diffusion of our songs through the various streaming platforms in order to reach as many audiences as possible and have feedback which can spur us to always improve. But it is during gigs that we have the pleasure to receive direct honors for our music.
In those cases only we can have the sureness to have hit the target of obtaining the affection of our fans.
7. Are you content being independent or are you looking for or prefer a label or management.
Sincerely in the beginning we tried with little music labels, but these always revealed to be a burden instead of a plus. For this reason we decided, for our last release, to ourselves-product completely, trying to promote the product in the best way that we considered to our needs.
8. Do you think the current offering from streaming platforms is good enough.
The important thing for us it’s the platform’s audio quality. The algorithms usually modify some frequencies and so making the tracks suitable to these, it became at this point a necessity
9. Tell us about the Inner Code latest release, what was your strategy, i.e. did you ask for Pre-saves, did you go out for paid reviews and playlisting.
Our last EP “Desidera, Distruggi, Dimentica” it develops as a concept album, a trilogy where the titles of the three songs go to create the title of the work itself. The concept rotates around to the idea of “end”, and each of the three songs draws a particular interpretation of conclusion and beginning: the end of a love story, the end of life, the dance of creation. Set in a dystopian and futuristic context, the EP resonates like a dark hymn, futuristic mantra, repeated in an endless loop with a nihilistic taste. We played for the first time the EP at Firenze Metal festival last 18th November, in an incredible night, a memorable sold out show. Soon we are releasing the official videoclip of “Distruggi” that we worked hard on. For now, we didn’t use the paid playlists.
10. Have you used music curator platforms and how did that work out for you.
No, we haven’t, for now we haven’t used these types of platforms. It’s not easy to extricate yourself between the various offers and find something that is really useful for our goal.
